Trade History[/u] The good, the bad, and the UGLY- 4/21/12 - Traded NSH 2012 1st (#4), Contraction #5 (Tukka Rask), Contraction #24 (Joe Colborne) to PIT for Gabriel Landeskog, Contraction #14 (Braden Holtby)
I like this trade for my team. Potential multi-cat stud in Landeskog and still got a good young goalie with the other pick I got. #4 overall is a pick that probably won't land one of the real big players in the draft, so I feel like I got better value with the proven commodity.
- 3/7/12 - Traded Mikhail Grabovski to PHX for Marcus Kruger, Phoenix 2012 2nd (27), Chicago 2012 3rd (35)
Not a fan of Grabovski's new deal. I like Kruger's upside in a few categories, and I have the chance to land some nice prospects if I use the picks wisely. Hurts in the short term but may be fine in the long term
- 3/6/12 - Traded Bryan Little to OTT for Zac Dalpe, OTT 2012 4th (47)
I think Little has reached his ceiling, and I bought low on Dalpe to an extent. He is highly-touted and just needs to settle into the NHL. If he reaches his potential I win this deal
- 3/4/12 - Traded Shea Weber, Rich Peverley, PHX 2012 4th (54) to NYR for Vincent Lecavalier, Mark Scheifele
Don't like Weber's contract for his production, and am very high on Scheifele. Vinny's contract sucks but if he's injury free he helps.
- 12/29/11 - Traded Kari Lehtonen, Brenden Morrow, Anze Kopitar, CHI 2012 4th (48) to EDM for Cam Ward, James Wisniewski, Sergei Kostitsyn, Magnus Paarjarvi, NSH 2012 1st (4), EDM 2012 2nd (26)
A big sign that I have fully entered re-build mode. I wanted a shakeup and I got it. Obviously the big piece was Kopitar, but I ran out of patience. If he hits that 100pt mark I will regret this one. The 1st rounder was a nice piece, and Kostitsyn has played well since the trade. A boom or bust player in MPS, and a slight win on the goalies. Time will tell on this one, although it appears to initially be a good move.
- 12/13/11 - Traded Simon Gagne to PHX for PHX 2012 3rd (40), PHX 2012 4th (54)
Two draft picks for the pleasure of getting rid of Gagne. A win, no matter who the picks are.
- 11/7/11 - Traded CHI 2012 2nd (21) to OTT for Kyle Turris
Decided to take the gamble that Turris would be sent to a desirable location. Signs are promising in OTT and I think I may win this long-term.
- 10/9/11 - Traded Mark Streit to DET for Lubomir Visnovsky
Old d-man swap. I lost for 11/12, but time will tell otherwise
- 9/17/11 - Traded Phil Kessel, CHI 2012 3rd (35) to MTL for Brenden Morrow, Kevin Shattenkirk, Mark Streit
Kessel was actually a big piece to give up. Initially this looked a win for me given the value of the pieces I got back, but halfway through the year it looked like a win for MTL when Kessel led the league in scoring and the three guys I got back struggled. Winning or losing this depends on the development of Shattenkirk but this is one of those trades that may not be as lopsided as it initially appears.
- 8/5/11 - Traded Pavel Datsyuk to FLA for Travis Zajac, FLA 2012 1st (10)
The 1st is a nice compensation for the difference in the two players, and long term Zajac is a nice option.
- 7/22/11 - Traded CHI 2011 5th (Connor Murphy) to VAN for VAN 2012 4th (55)
Draft pick trade. We'll see......
- 7/7/11 - Traded John Moore to OTT for Mark Dekanich, OTT 2011 4th (Scott Mayfield)
Needed to solidfy my goalie pipeline and Dekanich was tipped for a dark-horse role in Columbus. Still may win this if he pans out because Moore is still developing as well
- 7/1/11 - Traded NSH 2011 2nd (Nathan Beaulieu), CHI 2011 2nd (Tomas Jurco) to PIT for Michael Grabner, PIT 2011 4th (Samu Perhonen)
Bought high on a guy coming off a 30 goal rookie year. If Grabner turns it around this is a good deal for me. Big 'if' though.
- 5/17/11 - Traded Kyle Palmieri to VAN for Justin Faulk
I liked Faulk a lot and VAN liked Palmieri. Faulk has shown more at this stage than Palmieri in the NHL, but may be a win for each team
- 5/16/11 - Traded Jason Spezza, Nino Nieddereiter, CHI 2011 1st (Mika Zibanejad), CHI 2011 3rd (Jamieson Oleksiak) to NSH for Pavel Datsyuk, Brooks Laich, NSH 2011 2nd (Nathan Beaulieu), NSH 2011 4th (Reid Boucher)
A big deal that I'd like to have back. Niederreiter may bust, but Spezza is probably a better long-term option than Datsyuk at this point
- 3/7/11 - Traded Carter Ashton, CHI 2012 5th (62) to TOR for Kari Lehtonen
A win, as Lehtonen put some injury-free games together and was an elite netminder after the trade. Ashton is still a highly unproven commodity
- 6/25/10 - Traded Chris Stewart, PIT 2010 1st (Ryan Johansen) to CGY (since contracted) for Shea Weber, CLB 2010 1st (Mikael Granlund)
Another Trade that worked for both teams. Both prospects are good, and CGY needed F while I needed D. I probably win in the long run because I effectively sold high on Stewart here
- 5/18/10 - Traded Brian Campbell to EDM for Raffi Torres, Mikhail Grabovski
A win because I got the best player (Grabovski) and got rid of a horrible contract
- 4/29/10 - Traded James van Riemsdyk, Mikko Koivu to LAK (now SJS) for Anze Kopitar, LA 2010 4th (Johan Larsson)
At first glance it looks like an overpayment, but none of the players in the deal reached their potential as yet. Kopitar should be a 100pt guy and I was willing to overpay. If JVR ever reaches his potential it's a big loss.
- 4/28/10 - Traded Martin Erat, Jamie McBain, CHI 2010 5th (Alex Guptill) to NYR for Simon Gagne
Bought high on Gagne during his playoff run. Giving McBain may wind up hurting, but probably a loss on this one 2009/10 Season- Traded Cristobal Huet to EDM for EDM 2010 5th (Ivan Telegin)
I was grateful that someone took Huet off my hands
- Traded Ryan Kesler to OTT for Mikka Kipprusoff
Looked very lopsided at the time. Kipper was elite, yet Kesler went on to become a fantasy monster. One of those trades that is a win for both teams
- Traded Cody Franson, Angelo Esposito, CHI 2010 2nd (Riley Sheahan) to PHI (now TOR) for Wojtek Wolski, PHI 2010 3rd (Jordan Weal)
None of the players in the deal are great. Bought high on Wolski, to be fair
- Traded Jonathan Toews, David Backes, Steve Bernier, CHI 2010 3rd (Dylan McIlrath) to PIT for Jason Spezza, Bryan Little, PIT 2010 1st (Ryan Johansen)
Fair to say this was a win. Backes was the piece that hurt to lose, but Spezza, Little and the 1st were great pieces to get back
- Traded Rich Peverley to DET for Rene Bourque
Peverley mancrush. Even trade at the time.
- Traded CGY 2009 2nd (Jeremy Morin), CGY 2009 4th (Robin Lehner) to ANH (now BOS) for ANH 2009 2nd (Nick Palmieri), WSH 2009 3rd (Zach Budish)
Draft pick trade. Hard to tell who won really, although initially maybe Anaheim wins with the Lehner pick
- Traded Milan Michalek, CHI 2009 4th (Andrej Nestrasil) to CLB (now contracted) for Rene Bourque, CLB 2009 2nd (Carter Ashton)
Upgraded pick, and at the time I upgraded the player as well.
- Traded CHI 2009 1st (Victor Hedman), CHI 2009 5th (Kenny Ryan) to BOS (since contracted) for Phil Kessel, BOS 2009 2nd (Jeremy Morin), BOS 2009 4th (Robin Lehner)
After the horrible Kane trade I waited some time to make another move, but it was a good one. Having the dreaded #3 pick in that 2009 draft, I knew I wouldn't get Tavares or Duchene, so I moved the pick for a goalscorer entering his prime and some nice picks. A win. 2008/09 Season- Traded Patrick Kane, Dispersal #471 (Alexander Vasyunov), Dispersal #478 (Peter Forsberg), Dispersal #503 (Mark Recchi) to MTL for Kyle Okposo, Jamie McBain, Jan Mursak, Dispersal #530 (Colby Cohen)
Probably the worst trade I've ever made in fantasy. Bought into Okposo's upside and gave away a top player to do it. Got some decent prospects back but not enough to counter the value
- Traded Dispersal #99 (Claude Giroux), Dispersal #141 (Mikael Backlund), Dispersal #205 (Blake Comeau) to ANH (now BOS) for Dispersal #85 (Matt Carle), Dispersal #172 (Michael Oullet, Dispersal #204 (Steve Bernier)
Draft pick swap. Can't ever tell what happens with the picks, although I kinda wish I made the Giroux pick
- Traded Dispersal #64 (Shea Weber), #77 (Dan Carcillo), Dispersal #237 (Ryan Callahan) to BOS (now contracted) for Dispersal #49 (Martin Erat), Dispersal #112 (Ryan Kesler), Dispersal #241 (Angelo Esposito)
Draft pick swap. Can't ever tell what happens with the picks
- Traded Dispersal #32 (Alex Tanguay), Dispersal #52 (Tobias Enstrom), Dispersal #109 (Erik Cole) to TB (now NYR) for Dispersal #29 (Milan Michalek), Dispersal #67 (Alex Steen), Dispersal #99 (Claude Giroux)
Draft pick swap. Can't ever tell what happens with the picks
- Traded Dispersal #20 (Cam Ward), Dispersal #116 (Rostislav Olesz) to EDM for Dispersal #32 (Alex Tanguay), Dispersal #64 (Shea Weber)
Draft pick swap. Can't ever tell what happens with the picks
